And So It Is

 The Packers won't be playing in the Super Bowl. It seems numbing to think that is the reality. This was one of the most hyped seasons for the Packers. This was going to be the year they go to the Super Bowl.  Expectations met the 49ers and the outcome of the game was disappointing for everyone that bought into the idea the Packers were going all the way. The problem with that thinking is the Packers didn't do enough to win.  It is fitting the long snapper and punter were the reason for the blocked punt. They had moments this year of total ineptitude, What do you mean when you say you don't kick the ball directly to one of the NFL's best return men? What do you mean when you say block the guy in front of you? What do you mean turn the laces out? Special teams killed the Packers' Super Bowl dreams a couple times in the past ten years. Way to Go!

The Packers find new ways to lose, but there is something consistent in the way they lose and that is bad calls by the head coach. It is easy for us to second-guess a decision made by McCarthy, but it seems like he makes some bonehead choices that even someone the worst coaches in the NFL don't make.  McCarthy could have used a challenge on the incomplete pass to Lockett, and maybe we aren't talking about the stupidity of trusting your defense to get the ball the back.  What the coach sees his defense get slashed and decides it is a good idea to put his faith in them to win the game? It is a little late in the season for a morale booster for the defense. What they need is a kick in the ass. Mathews is old and slow. The run defense hasn't played a complete game all year. If you have faith in your defense you go for it on fourth and two and pray to God that they only give up three points, but that is if you have faith in your defense. That one horrible decision to...

The Richest Man in the NFL

The Packers finally signed Aaron Rodgers to a contract extension. That I'd good news for Packer Nation, if they can protect him from another season ending injury. The defense still looks weak. The offensive line looks weak at times. But it is hard to get a true picture of either side because most of the starters didn't play that much this preseason, so you really know what you are getting when the regular season starts. Let us hope that Aaron Rodgers stays healthy.
